Mystery (dash)Board Game?

Mystery (dash)Board Game?
I'm 3 weeks into ownership of a 2015.5 V60 Platinum. Very pleased with the car so far - fuel economy is particularly good ( vs previous 2009 V70 3.2 L). I'm coming up the learning curve on the various functions by guess and experiment - and that brings me to my major gripe: The owner's manual is perhaps the worst I have ever seen. It must have been written by lawyers, not engineers or drivers. One will find ~ 15 pages devoted to the installation of an infant/child seat but no organized illustration or explanation of the various controls of actual car function. A page or two devoted to the center console panel, with buttons identified and functions defined would be nice. Some things can be picked up by extensive random reading: e.g. pressing the steering wheel thumb roller to answer the phone is not, in my mind, intuitive. My current quest: There are a series of lights on the dashboard top surface, driver's side. When lit, they are reflected in the windshield, a sort of limited function "heads up" display. I am assuming that they are part of some collision avoidance system but I can find no discussion. If this assumption is correct, what are the parameters? speed? distance? field of view? The number of lights lit seems to vary but thus far, I cannot correlate the behavior with any particular driving situation. Again, very nice car but the Owner's Manual was written to avoid litigation, not to inform the owner.

That model year appears to have a separate manual for the Sensus system; have you consulted that manual? It appears to explain each button in some detail. Also see the attached pages from the 2016 V60 manual (I was unable to download the 2015.5 manual from the Volvo site).
I did a quick scan of the 2016 manual, and the only thing I can find on a dashboard display is the Distance Alert. This is documented in the Driver Support section (section 07).
