Default What's next?

Bought this 2002 S60 from my Volvo specialist mechanic about 4 1/2 years ago. It was supposedly in "great shape" and "well maintained."

In order, so far I've replaced
Struts (leaking)
ETM (died)
Coils (one died)
Ignition lock
Rear sway bar
Nearly the entire brake system while my mechanic was trying to figure out why the right front would lock up and not release. Three calipers, ABS, flexible hoses, and master cylinder. He said it looked no one had flushed the system in years and years.
Resonator & Muffler
Lower control arms
Steering rack & engine mount
Rear Shocks.

So I have a nearly rebuilt car. The upside is that it hasn't violated my maintenance expense rule. Annual maintenance expense is nowhere near what a replacement car would be. Add in that insurance costs nearly nothing. Would I rather have a problem free car? Yep, that's why I was considering an Accord and also why I don't use that mechanic anymore.

Being is a less problem prone car is why I sold my 06 and got a 2018 S60. I make a 70mile round trip every day for work and can't rely on an older car to take that trip every day. It did for 2 years and I had fun with it, but it's time was up. While I had it I replaced a lot of things similar to you. Plus, the remote start in the winter is a huge upside.

The only time that I was stranded was when my ETM failed, however, it gave me a lot of warning but I ignored it and was going get it looked at "next week." Everything else has just been an irritant but I'm cheap and don't mind being irritated.

Other than the ETM, most things were found during the annual state inspection. "Hey Grey, we found X, Y, & Z" So far, it hasn't cost more than my annual allowance. That number is set where the monthly expense would become greater than a new car payment.

Not a fan of remote starts.
