Default Factory Radio

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been posted but I tried to look thru for the answer.

I recently purchased a 98 S70 and would like to replace the factory radio that has only a tape player with one that has a CD player.

If I get a factory radio that has a CD player will it hook up with the current connections I have for the radio with just a tape player?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Adam

Yes it will work. Make sure you get the radio code.
Im not sure about the 3 disk though you might need an amp to run that one.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Would you happen to know where to get any instructions on taking out an old factory radio and replacing it with a factory radio that has a CD player?

Also

The remotes don't work to unlock the cars and I was hoping to add a remote start? Is this something that could be done say by bestbuy?

Thanks
Adam

For the radio if you look at the beginning and end of the preset buttons there is little tabs going up and down. Press them in and then pull them out. Then the radio will slide out.

For the remote start if it were me I owuld not go to Best Buy I would go to a radio shop only that knows what they are doing.

What you're looking for is the SC-816. Checkout e-Bay, for example...

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories___VOLVO-S70-V70-S40-C70-850-CD-Radio-SC-816-97-98-99-2000_W0QQitemZ120359189196QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20Acce ssoriesQQddiZ2811QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Audio_Vide o?hash=item120359189196&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245& amp;_trkparms=72%3A727|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

or contact Erie Vovo (Volvo parts recycler) and see what they have (they can be a bit on the pricey side)

As Tech noted, make sure you get the 4-digit security code from the seller or the radio will not work.
