Default Harsh Downshifts

When I got my 2000 Volvo S70, the ABS/Stability light would come on/off...I pulled a PO500 code, Vehicle Speed Sensor A (CEL came on for this). The gentleman that sold me the car told me about this, and said he was told front left sensor. Now that I used my scanner to clear the code, I can't say it's come back...though the day after I'm noticing at random the car downshifts rather harshly compared to before (if you get on it the car can bang into a downshift)...I've read (it's the 5-speed auto) that it adapts and uses the sensors to adapt...knowing they've been faulty it can be getting bad readings and doing this because of that. Thoughts?

Double check the type of fluid that you are suppose to use.

Well, mine is the 5-speed and sealed...there's no dipstick. I don't know when/if this was serviced but I will certainly add it to the list. Right now what I'm asking more specifically is, I've read online that a faulty speed sensor (which I know mine is from a code) can cause harsh downshifts on cars that use adaptive algorithm (like this) to shift. Considering it didn't do this the first few days, and only started once I cleared the code...would you say this could be from that?
