Default Oil line weasing noise.

Hey guys, I have a 1999 S70 here with a weasing noise at the turbo oil feed line. If I disconnect the feed while at idle the wease goes away. If the oil temp gets warm enough it goes away. I am loosing my behind here in diagnostic time. Thanks any info would help.

Removed the line and cleaned it out. If there is a restriction some where I'm thinking oil pump relief valve. Depending on how the oil gallies are. What about pulling the line and blowing some air backwards towards the pump??

Not sure if that will work. Is the turbo bad?

Has the oil pan been removed lately?
Maybe the pan rings are bad.

Thats possible but I only notice the noise on the feed line to the turbo. Normally when the seals are bad it wont make noise unless you have lifter chatter. It seems like most of the pans I do also have oil light issues due to low pressure. I wonder if I have to much pressure, causing this noise due to a chunk of crap in the block somewhere. When I get the car back in I will check out for oil pressure problems with a gauge to see where I am at. Ill let you know.

All right guys I have the car here again. I put an oil pressure gauge on it to reveal that I have good pressure. My theory is this: Pull the pan and look for a bad sum o-ring causing cavitation in the oil system. I will let you know after I pull the pan.

Hey guys update here on this noise. After some research I found a valve located in the block that allows distribution of oil to piston skirts and oil feed to the turbo. One tech I talked to said it sounded just like to problem I am having. I have one on the way. I will post when it is installed.

Thanks for all your help guys! I installed that valve and the noise is gone! As you look at the crank pulley the valve has a 17mm head and is about the 10 o'clock position on the block. The new valve was designed differently and fixed the problem.

Good to hear. I'll have to keep this in the "what if..." file.
