I also have this same problem. Its strange, as the hissing only seems to come if im driving the car for a while, and when I turn. And sometimes it never happens. So today after seeing this thread, I looked inside the can. The plasitc right angle piece inside the reservior broke off similar to cebured's picture. I fished it out of the bottom of the reservior and attempted to reattach it, but also like cebured, Im not sure how long it will hold (not long i would think, as it didnt seem too stable).

Tech, do you know what the fucntion of that piece is? Im just curious as to what it does. Maybe is a vent, or does it cycle the fluid from the bottom or what?

 

The system fluid returns to the bottle through it. With the plastic missing it airates the fluid causing the noise.

 

Hi, what are the risks of having too much power steering fluid in the bottle? I would say mine is at the hot mark when its cold, so i guess i have some overflow when it actually gets hot..
what are the risks of this? Will it damage the seals or anything like that?
