I have a 1999 S80 T6 2.8lt, and I have people telling me I have different transmissions. One parts place says I have a 4T65EV/4T65EV-GT then another says I have the AW50-42LE, how do I find out for sure what transmission is in my car before I start ordering parts.

The 4T65EV transmissions are GM not Aisin Warner which are Japanese(Toyota) designed and overall performed better in Volvo's.

This link tracks down the transmission applicable based on your vehicles actual VIN number.
That may be more accurate and is what the parts places normally use.

The P2 S80s with the 6 cylinder's had the GM trans, not the AW. The AW was with the 5 cylinder engine, but not the AW50-42.
