Default V70 OBD2 works but can't see other modules

2004 V70 that I'm trying to help a friend out with. I'm using a Vident scanner that is supposed to communicate with all the modules but I get a communication failure no matter what module I try to read.
The problem with the vehicle is no crank. It shows a "severe" air bad problem on the dash. The transmission indicator shows the proper shifter position. If I jump the starter relay it cranks but doesn't start.
I'm thinking that there is something wrong with the computer system since I can't communicate with any of the modules.
Help!

You need to try a different scan tool.

If memory serves, after 2004 model year the CanBus speeds were significantly increased. Potentially ur scantool is not backwards compatible. Did u check what models the Vident is compatible?

try going to Autozone or another big box store as they typically rent/loan scanners. Does the scanner show anything when you turn the key to position 2? if not check for a blown fuse. if the dash lights don't come on - its possible you have a battery or ignition switch issue.

I put my ocilliscope on it and don't see any signals on the bus. From what I've read this is a common CEM failure with this model. I sent the CEM to Xemodex for a rebuild.
Thanks!

Got the CEM and ECM back and things are different but still not right.
At first it would crank with both keys but only start with one. After switching keys back and forth about 10 times it would start with both keys. ???
All but 2 modules showed trouble codes so I cleared all of them and then a couple of minutes later the bus communication went down again.
I sent a message to Xemodex and waited a couple of days. Tried it again and communication was back up and only one code - no communication with AEM and then communication went down again.
Where is the AEM so I can disconnect it?

Default D5T5 has VDASH for free

I downloaded VDASH last night it appears to do everything VIDA does for free plus you can purchase and download tunes. I scanned my 2004 V-70 and changed my speed limiter to 160. I'm using a Chinese Dice clone and a Windows 10 Laptop.
