V70 Question, Swap.
Hey,
I currently have a 1999 Volvo V70 with 230,000 I use it for every day for work, it is a great car, and still runs fantastic as it has been treated well. I find myself in a bind, I am looking to purchase another V70, a used 2004 with around 91,000 for $17,000 CAD.
What do you guys think? Is it worth giving up a car that brought me so much everyday for a newer 2004 V70? Please, give me some opinions, should I wait? Let me know.
I also have a transmission question, the transmission on the newer v70's 2000+ look a lot smaller then the ones built in the 1990's. Is it just me or does this exist?
Feedback?
Thanks!

RE: V70 Question, Swap.
Hi, having 2x850-94s with 220 and 270kkm on, I faced the same question one year ago. Bought one V70D5AWD 2005 and divorced from a Saab 900-88 not from any 850s which are to beused by family members at least next five years. Those have no rust, original cats, no major repairs mostly brakes related. Finaly this means low cost of ownership and ride. Use Mobil1 and change alsoautotransmission oil every 3to4 years. But wanted to have something new and like the outlook of 05 more than new 08, changed over to diesel and haldex awd for winter driving.

RE: V70 Question, Swap.
Hi ,I have a '99 v70 standard version and what happened was that i started the car just like every day and i let it warm up a little then i drove just around the block and i stopped on lights and when i tried to take of i heard that sound like (clink)somewhere around the dashboard and the car did not want to drive any more.Never experience any transmission problems what so ever .I have used the winter option so it do not lock the wheels since we have some snow for like two days and when it happened i kinda have a problem to get the key out of ignition like did not want to turn all the way out so i have to force it a little on neutral and i got it out .Now what i did next is disconnect the battery in order to reset computer and when i did at the first time i was able to drive for like a few blocks but then when i stopped on lights it happened again .l suspect some kind of electrical problem or perhaps some kind of sensor responsible for that winter option . Please answer me ASAP .Hans.

RE: V70 Question, Swap.
Before i got this car somebody kill the engine at 144.000 miles so what they did they put another engine from s70 with 67.000 miles on it .I have all the paper work for the engine and the car itself since i got this car from a local dealer .
I have the car since may '08 and i drove this car twice to white mountains in New Hampshire from Queens NY and did Mt Washington over 6000 ft above the elevation with no problems at all .Everything worked perfect until now.I've check the tranny fluid -it is litlle dark so it need to be change but never any signs of tranny disturbed . Like i said before i have use the "W" button by the shifter since we got some snow here and maybe this option was not used for a long time and it cause some kind of shortage that pop some sensor ?????
