Default Climate Control Draining battery

Hi, first time poster here.
For a good while now I have the Climate control Fuse removed from its socket on my XC90. If I put it back in it will drain the battery within a few hours. If I'm going on a long journey I put the fuse back in but it can take up to an hour before I have any control over the coolers/heaters fan etc. Mostly nothing happens and sometimes the fan comes on full blast and I cannot control it.
My husband used to sort this kinda stuff out in the past but hes gone now and I fear a unaffordable bill just to drive into a garage. Is there any easy fix to this?

I think you need new fan resistor.

Default Had same issue

I had the same issue with my wife's 06 xc90. Had to have a new blower motor and resistor, both require the dash to be removed. Parts and labor at a Volvo independent shop was $900, dealer wanted $1300.
