Default Muffler to Catalytic Convertor Flange Gasket...Bolts no longer have threads!!!

Hi,

I started my 2006 xc90 2.5 AWD yesterday and hear a big exhaust leak. Got under and saw that the exhaust had separated at the flange where the muffler connects to the converter. I picked up a new gansket and parts store said 3/8 bolt and nut would do. Trying to install it now but it seems like the bolt was probably welded on from factory onto the flange, but i have no more thread. It fits and sites in perfect now but i need something to keep the two from coming apart when i drive. I am afraid to try to remove the bolt as I don't want to break the flange, so please send me your suggestions,

Thanks
