Default Will an aftermarket antenna work on a '92 940?

The power antenna post on our '92 340 was broken off by what can only be described as an "evil" tree limb. Regardless, can these power antennas be replaced with aftermarket stationary antennas? As an FYI, the "power" portion of the old antenna did not work either.

Thanks!

Those stationary antennas work on anything, they just pressure clamp on any sheet metal, plug into the OEM connection.

the power antennas are actually pretty easy to fix usually. the stock whip (external part of the antenna) is quite inexpensive. you disassemble the 'snail' spiral on the motor assembly and remove any broken bits of old plastic tail. use a volt meter to verify the motor is getting power, and that the antenna control signal from the radio is getting to it, and if it still doesn't work, then you need a new motor, cheap from a pik-n-pull. on a wagon, the motor is below the lefthand floor panel, on a sedan, its behind the side carpet, its the same motor on both.

Thanks. It is a sedan. But I am a little confused on where it is located. I was under the impression that it was in the trunk area behind the plastic siding. When you mention it is under the carpet do you mean the trunk carpet?

ah, if your car has plastic siding in the trunk, then yeah. Its directly under the antenna, whichever. I've only dealt with 240 sedans and 7/9 wagons.
