850 will not start-last call for help...
Hi All:
I am at the cliff ready to jump...and tow our '95 turbo to a repair shop.
Still will not start after two weeks of many attempts. I am asking one last time before I call the tow truck.
What I have done: Fuel is present. Can smell it, hear the pump and when the plugs are pulled they are damp. When a timing light is hooked up, no indication of spark is present. We have a '98 V70 so I have swapped the coil, cam sensor. I have installed a new RPM sensor. I bought a used CPU from ebay. All wires and distributer cap are new. With all these items, still no start. I tried the "crank method" where I crank the car for over 2 minutes with the pedal on the floor at all times. No start.
When cranking occasionally there is a hint of ignition. Last observation is the LED test box up front will give no blinks at all after I push the test button (the actual LED works)
Any last ditch ideas?
Thanks for all your suggestions along this frustrating episode...
Pete

I'm going to suggest that if youhave a battery charger, tomake sure you have a good strong charge on the battery. Weak charge may give you a no-start condition, though unlikely. Retrace all of the electrical connections that you have undone in the last two weeks. Start from square one. Make sure they are all connected properly. If you've absolutely confirmed that there is no indication of spark, and no plinking of the codes, then it's got to be electrical. Do you have interior lights? Do your electrical options work (windows, seats, etc)?
When you say you swapped the coil and cam sensor, did you replace with new parts? Especially with the coil, while unlikely, I'd consider taking it back and exchanging for a new one. As I'm typing this at the moment, I can't read back in the previous posts to see if or what you've posted. What happened at the start of all this mess that is relevant?

Very uneventful begining. Our high school son started the car, it ran for a minute then died. I was at work, so any further detail was missing.
Battery has been strong, all accessories work.
The cam sensor was from our V70, I accually left the units swapped rather than fighting removal again (turbo makes it tight down there) Coil also from our very functional V70
Thanks

For giggles compair part#'s on the massflow between the 850 and V70 if they are the same swap the air box lid and see if it starts.
I can't really see the mass flow sensor stop the spark but you never know.

I would choose a cliff that is low enough for you to reach the water without jumping.....[8D]
