inside, the positive wire that connects to the actual pump got somehow disconnected

Ouch! Who would go into the tank before ordering parts.

lol I had the new pump when I took it out but I ended up not replacing it cause it seems like someone had actually replaced the pump recently (maybe when the fuel filter was changed) they just didn't do a good job reconnecting the wire. The new pump I ordered is just in stock for when the time comes that the pump actually dies

You might want to remember that some models of the same make and year Volvo require 2 pumps, a low and a high pressure pump. Just fyi, and another quality parts dealer I've used many times is RockAuto.com they have some of the best prices for oem parts...SOMETIMES, so shop around and listen to the advice of all of the above guys that have a lot more knowledge than me on many of the cures of the sick Volvo's....burningfire

This is the 850 forum, what 850 uses a lift pump ??
