'96 850 sedan spring seats
I have a noise comming from my right front suspension on bumpy roads. I was leaning toward a bad wheel bearing but after looking here I've come to the conclusion that it's a spring seat. A lot of good info on here. My question is should I replace the spring seat and strut mount? Or can I get away with just the spring seat? The car has 135k miles. I see that fcp sells a spring seat/strut mount kit for the car. I'm leaning toward replacing just both spring seats.
Chances are you can get by with just the spring seats. I've been using OEM XC90 spring seats as replacements on my 850s - they are beefier and they only cost a couple of dollars more. Avoid Scan tech parts.

pretty sure it's the spring seat as I get a lot of movement in the top strut nut when I bounce the car. And it sounds like a pretty common problem. So far it's had all the common 850 problems, leaky rear main seal, gasoline odor from tank area, ignition key jammed up, dash broken and squeeking. Not sure if the head liner, cv axles, and the dash lights burnt out are common but had that also. Still a great car.
