PCV nightmare
So I finally tried putting my PCV in today. A friend and i were doing it. As soon as i got the manifold off, i realized the parts i got from IPD wouldn't work. In every tutorial I have watched and in every kit I have seen, there is a vacuum line that connects on the passenger side of the manifold. Mine does not have that port, so I would have a hose just hanging there which would create a leak. Does anyone know anything about this? The hose that came off has only one port on each end from the PTC to box. The one in the kit has a large and small one. My car does have an EGR if that makes a difference.
Can anyone who has serviced the PCV on a car with an EGR system please chime in. I cannot for the life of me hook up the fitting for the egr to the manifold when trying to put the manifold back on.
The EGR should be already attached to the manifold when you put it in. You should be connecting only the big nut. Never tighten all the bolts up until they are all the parts are connected. Meaning, put all the bolts in the manifold but still loose so you can maneuver the manifold still. With that little bit of movement you should be able to get the EGR nut back on.
what is the torque spec on the intake manifold bolts? i read 15 foot pounds but want to double check. also, are these bolts M7 bolts? i am going to replace all mine because some of them look rough
Intake bolts, 15 ft lb and 20 nm
Heat Shield Bolt ................................. 11 (15)
Intake Manifold Bolt ............................. 15 (20)
Knock Sensor Bolt ................................ 15 (20)
Oil Pan Bolts .................................... 20 (15)
7 X 1.0 35 long
And for the purists, yes I know it's supposed to be 15lb ft, pounds per foot but I bow to the masses that use the incorrect term foot pound.
