I'll try to keep this short, driving to a destionation today the air conditioning went out, meaning stopped blowing cool air about 2 miles from where I was going, upon arrival after parked smelt a bad burning order with slight smoke from engine bay, popped the hood and more smoke, sparks, smalll flames coming from what I belive is the air compressor unit/pump, unit up high drivers side run by fan belt, blew on flames a few times all went away except smoke. A couple of minutes after the fan belt broke/seperated. All while parked.So obvisouly 2 issues, fan belt and compressor or altenator,
1st ,opinions of this.
2nd, has 90.000 miles, if these are to be replaced what other items need to be adressed at the same time? idler pully, belt tensioner, water pump? What about timing belt or is that the same as fan belt.
Getting towed in the AM to shop, would like to be able to direct mechanic as to what I might also want done beyond what is suggested to me.
