Hello all,

Me and my wife decided we couldn't keep our Mini Cooper anymore so we're selling it. We were looking for either a Saab or a Volvo to replace it (need something that is reliable and easy to work on, and we both prefer european cars with manual transmissions). It looks like an 850 or S70 would be great for us. Limit is $4000, must be in good condition preferably with service records. We are in the northern Indiana area but would travel up to 250 miles for one. That is, Toledo, Chicago, Indianapolis, maybe Detroit. Hopefully the manual ones aren't so rare that we can't find one.

Hi! I know it's a little beyond your 250 mile limit, but if you will check on today's (1/20/09) Craigslist in Oklahoma City, there is a NICE looking 95 Volvo 850 5 speed for $3000. The price difference might make it easier for you to go that far. I live in Tulsa and have 2 850's, 1 S70, and 1 S80, andI can assure you....you will LOVE your Volvo! There is a really nice 97 S70 T5 five speed for sale on volvospeed right now. Not sure where it is. You should really look for the turbo with a five speed. Next to impossible to find in the 850 unless converted or from Canada. My son got a 98 S70 five speed for $3,000 about a year ago. We drove from Colubmbus, OH to Rochester, NY to get it. We found it on e-bay. The only ones he would take were 98's in white or red with the charcoal interior and got a white one. Looks almost like my 850 R, but with white trim instead of dark grey.

This would be perfect if it was closer. I'm going to keep looking around closer though. There's one at a dealer in Ohio and I'm working on trying to trade my car in for that one.
